Elon Musk, the world’s richest businessman, has alleged that Ukraine is behind the downing of social media platform X. X was down three times on Monday. Musk said on Fox News: “We don’t know exactly what happened, but there were cyberattacks from IP addresses originating from the Ukraine area on a large scale to dismantle the X system. Earlier, Musk had said, “We have cyber attacks every day, but this time it has been done with a lot of resources. The attack involves a large group or country.
10 March was down at 3:30 pm X
The first time was down for half an hour around 3:30 p.m. Then it was down an hour from 7pm. This was followed by a closure from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. More than 4000 complaints from India, 18,000 from the US and more than 10000 from the UK were registered on website down detector downdetector.in is a platform for tracking outages i.e. problems of websites and online services in real time.
Two outages of X reported in the past days
X was down from around 1.15 pm on 26 April 2024. On the down detector, 145 people reported difficulty using X. Users were having trouble using it on both the web and the app.
X’s service was also down on 21 December 2023. Users from around the world, including India, were having problems accessing X from around 11 am on Thursday. Instead of the post, users could see a message that read ‘Welcome to X.’
Elon Musk bought in 2022 X
27 October 2022 Elon Musk bought Twitter (now X). The deal was for $44 billion. As of today, this amount is about Rs 3.84 lakh crore.
Musk had first fired four of the company’s top officials, CEO Parag Agrawal, finance chief Ned Segal, legal executive Vijaya Gadde and Sean Adget. 5 June 2023 was joined by Linda Iaccarino as CEO of X. Previously, she was Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships at NBC Universal.
