Advantages And Disadvantages Of Artificial Intelligence

AI is the technology which is very helpful for human beings. By using this technology, human hard work can be avoided. Artificial Intelligence can be used in health care, education, electronics, software development, pharmacies, sports, engineering, communication and development. AI is based on science and technology on subjects like information technology, biology, phycology, mathematics, etc. The main advantage of artificial intelligence is that the work will be accurate and time can be saved.

Introduction

Artificial Intelligence is of two words one is artificial and the other is intelligence, artificial means man-made and intelligence means the ability to think, so we can define artificial intelligence as the branch of computer science by which we can develop intelligent machines that can behave like human, think like human and take decisions according to the logic program in memory. Artificial Intelligence is a branch of science that deals with modifying machines to find solutions to complex problems like human. In a general way it borrows the characteristics of human intelligence, and by using algorithms we can command the computer. AI is very useful for humans and society. In this, the work of humans is reduced and by using machines or devices we can complete our work. Every five years a committee of scientists to assess the current status of AI. The committee is investigating the development of AI.

Here, one of the emerging technologies of computing is AI which is set to bring a new revolution in the world by creating intelligent machines. Artificial Intelligence is all around us now. It is currently working with various subfields from general to specific, such as self-driving cars, playing chess, proving theorems, playing music, painting, etc. Artificial Intelligence refers to calculation control robots to complete the given task. Since the middle of the 20th century, scientists have attempted to develop a system that is capable of completing tasks that require human intelligence.

Definition of AI

AI refers to the similarity of human intelligence in machines that have been programmed to think like humans and imitate their steps. This term is mainly used to solve a problem like humans. AI is a method in which we program the machine to work like a human example, drive a car, etc. Artificial Intelligence (AI), is the ability of a computer or computer-controlled robot to accomplish tasks mainly associated with intelligent beings.

Objective of AI

The goals of AI are: –To build computers so that they can see, hear, walk, talk, and feel. The main thrust of AI is to build computers functions that are generally associated with human intelligence, such as thinking, learning, and problem solving. That is why John McCarthy coined the term artificial intelligence in 1956 at MIT.

• To create expert systems – the device or machine that exhibits intelligent behavior, learns, thinks, demonstrates, explains, and suggests to its users.

• Implementing Human Intelligence in computers – Creating systems that understand, think, learn and behave like humans.

Applications of AI

AI has a major role in: Transportation; Robots; Health; Education; Commissions; Public Safety and Security, Entertainment; Employment.

Smart Cars: GPS for personal vehicle was introduced in 2001 for car navigation devices and has become a fundamental part of transportation infrastructure. Nowadays vehicles are equipped with sensors. An average automobile in the US is estimated to have seventy sensors including gyroscopes, accelerometers, ambient light sensors, and many more sensors are used. Automobiles built 2000 sensors for better quality and service of cars.

AI in Social Media: Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat have billions of user profiles which need to be stored and managed in a very efficient manner. AI can organize and manage huge amounts of knowledge. AI can analyze multiple data to find out the latest trends, hashtags, and the need of different users

AI in Robotics: Artificial Intelligence has a remarkable role in robotics. Usually, normal robots are programmed in such a way that they will perform some repetitive tasks, but with the help of AI, we will create intelligent robots that can perform tasks with their own experience without being pre-programmed. Humanoid robots are the best examples for AI in robotics, recently intelligent humanoid robots named Erica and Sophia have been developed that can talk and behave like humans.

AI in E-commerce: AI is providing a competitive edge to the e-commerce industry, and it is becoming more in demand in the e-commerce business. AI helps buyers to get the recommended size, color, or maybe the associated product with the brand.

AI in Education: For over fifteen years AI has been considered an advance in the education sector. The applications are used by teachers and learners today. Robots have been popular educational tools for a long time, Lego Mind Storm kits were developed for education purposes in the MIT lab in the 1980s. Some robots like Ozobot and Cubelets teach and help learners and children.

AI in Safety and Security: AI is used only when required. And the deployment is done very carefully, AI is also helpful in removing some of the biases inherent in human decision making. The term AI is also helpful in cyber security and machine learning is making an impact. CCTVs deployed almost everywhere around the world today are more useful in solving crimes and helping prevent them.

Benefits

Using artificial intelligence, the work of humans can be reduced, humans can do other tasks instead of machines.

• Programming, self-writing, self-modifying, etc. are tasks that humans feel burdened by.

• Artificial intelligence is like a cheap labor and using this labor will speed up our work and increase profits.

• Artificial intelligence can be easily deployed.

• Machines do not need refreshments and breaks like humans.

• Machines can be reprogrammed to work for long hours without getting bored or tired.

• The science of robotics and artificial intelligence can be deployed in mining and other fuel exploration process, by this we can save human lives because humans can make new robots but we cannot make them human.

• Artificial intelligence can be deployed in industries and companies.

“Human error” This phrase was born because humans do make mistakes from time to time. However, computers do not make these mistakes if they are programmed properly. With AI, choices are made from information already gathered by applying a particular set of algorithms. Hence the errors are reduced and hence there can be a possibility of reaching accuracy with greater accuracy. In our day-to-day work, we will be doing many repetitive tasks like sending thank you mails, verifying some documents for errors and many more things. By using AI we will productively automate these mundane tasks and also remove the “boring” tasks for humans and free them to be increasingly creative.

Some highly advanced organizations use digital assistants to interact with users which saves the need for human resources. Digital assistants are also used in many websites to supply users with what they want. We can interact with them about what we are trying to find. Some chatbots are designed in such a way that it becomes hard to figure out whether we are chatting with a chatbot or a human. By using AI along with other technologies we will enable machines to make faster decisions and act faster than a human. Humans will analyze many factors emotionally and practically while making any choice, but an AI-powered machine works according to its program and gives faster results. Daily applications like Apple’s Siri, Window’s Cortana, Google’s OK Google are frequently used in our daily routine, whether it is searching for a place, taking a selfie, making a call, answering mails and many more.

Disadvantages

• Machines are not easy to develop because the equipment is also expensive.

• Construction, reconstruction and repairs can cost a lot of cash and time. Robotic repairs can be done to reduce the time and humans to fix it, but it will cost extra money and resources.

• Robots, with replacing jobs, can cause severe unemployment, unless humans can fix unemployment with jobs, AI cannot do that or change the government to communism severely.

• Machines can easily cause destruction, if they are given in the wrong hands. That is, minimum fear from different humans.

• AI is making humans lazy by automating most of the tasks by its applications. Humans are attracted towards these inventions which can cause trouble for the coming generations.

• • As AI is replacing most of the repetitive tasks and other tasks with robots, human intervention is getting reduced which can create a significant problem within the usage standards. Every organization wants to exchange the minimum qualified individuals with AI robots that can perform the same tasks with more efficiency.

• There is no doubt that machines are far better when it comes to working efficiently but they cannot replace the human connection that makes a team. Machines cannot develop bonds with humans which is an important feature in team management.

• Machines can only perform the tasks that they are designed or programmed to do, they have a tendency to crash or give irrelevant outputs on any of them which can be a serious backdrop.

Conclusion

From the above discussion we can see that Artificial Intelligent Technologies make human life easier and in the future Artificial Intelligent Technologies can provide more competitive advantages. In conclusion, we have gone through AI definitions, brief history, applications of AI in public, applications of AI in the military, ethics of AI and hence the three laws of robotics during this research. This is not the top of AI, there is much more to return from, who knows what AI can do for us in the future, maybe it will be a whole society of robots.
